Times Square’s Super Bowl Boulevard

Super Bowl XLVIII is coming to New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Feb. 2, 2014.

Even though the game will be held in New Jersey, New York has its foot in the game with a slew of events planned around the big day. The biggest of them all is the transformation of Times Square into an impromptu theme park dubbed Super Bowl Boulevard, which will run down Broadway from 34th to 44th streets from Jan. 29

through Feb. 1, noon to 11pm.

More than 400,000 visitors are expected to crowd into the “boulevard” for the festivities, which include:

Toboggan Run

The masterpiece of Super Bowl Boulevard is an eight-lane toboggan run that sits 58 feet high. Stretching 180 feet down Broadway between 40th and 41st streets, the run is expected to accommodate up to 1,000 riders per hour.

The Vince Lombardi Trophy

The AFC and NFC champions will duke it out at the MetLife Stadium to see who gains possession of this coveted trophy in February, but meanwhile you’ll be able to take photo ops with the championship icon just by showing up.

Super Bowl XLVIII Roman Numerals

On Broadway between 42nd and 43rd streets, you’ll find oversize Roman numerals commemorating this year’s Super Bowl … and you’ll be able to take a photo of yourself in front of said numerals.

Autograph and Concert Stage

Stop by daily between noon and 6pm for free autograph sessions with current and former NFL players.

Macy’s Video Projection Shows

While taking a break from holiday shopping, check out a 10-minute show of NFL Films footage projected on the façade of the Macy’s flagship location in Herald Square.
