San Francisco, famous for the Golden Gate

San Francisco is a city to be experienced. It is considered one of the most beautiful cities in the United States, cosmopolitan and of great contrasts. It is known for the Golden Gate, Alcatraz Island, Twin Peaks and for the famous streetcars that run its steep streets. Its singularity emerges from the cultural blend of native Indians, Spanish settlers and numerous Asian immigrants.

In the 90s, the proximity of Silicon Valley made San Francisco home to many companies of new technology sectors. Hence, San Francisco is, nowadays, the technological, financial and cultural center of California, competing with Los Angeles. It has been associated with alternative movements and is regarded as one of the most open-minded cities of the United States.

Chinatown, Japantown, Mission District, Financial District, Castro or Haight-Ashbury are some of the most singular places to visit. Everyone find their place in San Francisco and we will find ours!

We will stroll along Union Square, which is the most important and lively square in town. Find here and in nearby streets shops, restaurants and bustling ambiance. Fisherman’s Wharf, former port in San Francisco, is home to the famous sea lions and one of the most touristic sites in the city.

Cross the 1.7 miles long Golden Gate, a symbol of the city and one of the longest suspension bridges in the world. The bridge ends up in the beautiful city of Sausalito, where you will enjoy a fantastic view of the bay. We will also visit the impressive ancient redwood trees (Sequoia sempervirens) at Muir Woods.

But if anything characterizes San Francisco, impassable streets are filled with steep slopes. Located between Hyde and Leavenworth is Lombard Street. The main attraction of Lombard Street is seeing the cars coming down the street as if it were a rollercoaster.
