Memphis, home of Elvis Presley, the King of Rock

Memphis is the largest city in the state of Tennessee, in the southeastern of the Unites States and is a perfect town to visit in winter on account of its mild temperatures.

Its main attractions are the historic neighborhoods of South Main and Beale Street.

Wander along bustling Beale Street in downtown Memphis, stretching from the Mississippi river to East Street, a distance of 1.8 miles. A street which is so important in the history of the city as well as in the history of the blues and today is full of blues clubs and restaurants. Festivals and outdoor concerts periodically bring large crowds to the street and its surroundings.

A stroll along the historical neighborhood of South Main Street is a must. We will enjoy the cultural diversity and entertainment: full of art galleries, fashionable restaurants, outdoor markets, shops and former warehouses restored as lofts.

Music lovers will enjoy this city. Memphis is considered by many as the birthplace of blues music. You can also visit the Sun Studio, where Elvis and Johnny Cash recorded their hits. Stax Museum, which is a reminiscent of great artists like Isaac Hayes, released wonderful records and played a key role in the integration of the south. This museum was rebuilt in 2008 and for years all that was left in there was just a memorial plaque recording what happened there on a typical day.

The National Museum of Human Rights, built where Martin Luther King was shot in 1968, pays tribute to his legacy.
